At the age of 26, Zachary Giles Wright passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025, following sudden complications from a recent diagnosis of Burkitt lymphoma. His untimely death has deeply saddened the community and left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Though his time was short, Zach’s life was full of adventure, love, and laughter. His bright spirit, infectious humor, and unwavering generosity touched family, friends, colleagues, and even strangers alike.

Early Life and Family

Zach was born on January 22, 1999, in Murray, Utah, to Jeremy and Jennifer Wright. As the eldest of seven siblings—including Bahn, Anna, Griffin, Jane, Lincoln, and Talmes—he embraced his role as a protective big brother with pride and love. Zach’s childhood was marked by curiosity, warmth, and a gentle leadership that defined him throughout his life.

A Love for the Outdoors and Adventure

From a young age, Zach showed a passion for the outdoors. Whether hiking iconic peaks like Half Dome in Yosemite or biking rugged trails, his adventurous spirit was evident. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2013, reflecting his commitment, discipline, and leadership. Zach pursued careers that allowed him to share his love of adventure—working as a whitewater rafting guide, ski patrolman, and avalanche mitigation specialist. His priority was always safety, fun, and building connections during every outdoor experience.

Missionary Service and Faith

Between November 2017 and November 2019, Zach served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oaxaca, Mexico. His mission was marked by humor, honesty, and deep faith, and he touched the lives of many through his love and compassion.

Entrepreneurial Spirit and Personal Life

Zach was a natural problem solver and entrepreneur. From repairing and selling cars to working in solar panel sales, he was always engaged in creative projects. It was during a business trip to California that he met Annie Samarhaj, who became his life partner. They married on September 15, 2023, at the Bountiful Utah Temple and made their home in Star Valley, Wyoming—a place filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams.

Creative Passions and Personality

Zach was also a creative soul with a passion for music and art. He played guitar and piano, crafted pottery, and enjoyed photography. Known for his infectious smile and quick wit, Zach brought joy and light to all those around him. His mischievous humor and ability to find laughter in difficult moments will be fondly remembered.

Legacy of Love and Kindness

Above all, Zach was a loving son, brother, husband, and friend. He was devoted to those he cared for and always willing to lend a helping hand. His faith in people and life left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

Survived By

Zach is survived by his wife Annie; parents Jeremy and Jennifer; siblings Bahn, Anna, Griffin, Jane, Lincoln, and Talmes; grandparents; a large extended family including numerous cousins; and his loyal dog, Max. He was preceded in death by his cousin Christine Wright.

The Wright family extends their deepest gratitude to the medical teams at Star Valley Hospital, Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, and LDS Hospital for their care during Zach’s final days.

Visitation will be held at the Sandy Utah West Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 220 East 8680 South, Sandy, Utah:

  • Friday, May 30, 6:00–8:00 PM
  • Saturday, May 31, 9:30–10:30 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM

Zach’s passing leaves a profound void, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His love for life, creativity, and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him. Rest in peace, Zach. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
