Details of the Fire Incident
The fire was reported around 11:20 a.m., just north of San Carlos Park Elementary School. Emergency response teams from several agencies—including South Trail Fire, Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District, Greater Naples Fire Rescue District, and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office—responded to the scene.
Neighbor Ryan Mills described hearing an explosion followed by the sound of breaking glass. Upon arriving at the scene, he witnessed flames engulfing the roof. “The heat and smoke were intense. I saw two vehicles in the driveway and the garage door was open. It seemed like someone could be inside,” Mills recounted.
Fire crews had the blaze mostly under control within 25 to 30 minutes. By the time Mills left, the structure was still smoldering.

The cause of the fire is under active investigation. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire, Arson and Explosives Investigations, is conducting a full death investigation. South Trail Fire District is cooperating fully with authorities.
As a precaution during the incident, nearby San Carlos Park Elementary and Fort Myers Beach Elementary schools were briefly placed on a secure status. Students remained indoors, and instruction continued without interruption.
